Support Letter

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

The Santa Clarita Valley is a special place to live… We are blessed with safe neighborhoods, great schools and committed, caring people who work together for the greater good.

But none of this would be possible without water! Chances are, when you turn on the faucet, there is no thought about what it took for that water to reach you.

As a member of the Castaic Lake Water Agency Board of Directors, I have worked hard to ensure that families in the Santa Clarita have a sustainable water supply. I have helped to enforce the clean-up of the Whittaker-Bermite site requiring the polluter to pay for the restoration of the water supply, supported expanded use of recycled water for irrigation purposes, promoted water saving incentives in our record setting 5 years of drought. I have also worked on the banking of excess water in groundwater storage programs to ensure that our valley will not run dry.

I am asking for your support to continue this work. As California enters a possible 6th year of drought, it is imperative to have strong, knowledgeable leadership to keep our water flowing. My opponent in this election is Lynne Plambeck, president of the pseudo-environmental group known as SCOPE. While they do not publicly claim to be anti-growth, that is their ultimate goal. But without managed growth and economic development, our valley will cease to be the special place that it is. Without economic development, the tax base begins to erode and services begin to suffer. Schools, hospitals and businesses are affected. To stop progress in our valley, SCOPE has sued Castaic Lake Water Agency numerous times over the last 20 years to prevent water being supplied to new businesses and homes. It has cost the water rate payers of the Santa Clarita Valley nearly FIVE MILLION DOLLARS to defend these lawsuits. This year’s election is about SCOPE wanting to obtain a foothold on the board and take control of the valley’s water supply. We cannot afford to let that happen!

Unfortunately, running a campaign is expensive. I would welcome your contribution of $50, $100, $200 or more to continue serving the Santa Clarita Valley. If you are able to help, please make your check out to “Cooper for Water Board” and mail to Bill Cooper 24724 Garland Drive Valencia CA 91355 or go to billcooperforwater.com and use paypal.

I appreciate your friendship and support and will continue to work for you to keep Santa Clarita a great place to live, work and raise a family. I ask for your vote on November 8th.

Sincerely,

Bill Cooper
